The Judge.me integration asks Judge.me to email a product review request after a subscriber’s 1st or 2nd successful renewal. You choose which renewal. It can also mark the Judge.me reviewer as Active Subscriber, so you can filter reviewers in Judge.me.

What it does

When Judge.me is connected:
  • After the renewal you choose, Appfox asks Judge.me to schedule one review-request email
  • The original checkout order is not included. Counting starts at the first successful renewal
  • Judge.me sends the email using the review-request schedule you already configured in Judge.me, starting from the renewal date
  • Appfox sends one request per renewal order. Repeating the same renewal does not send another email
  • The request is for the subscription’s first product, including that product’s handle. Judge.me’s request API accepts one product per call. The send date is left blank so Judge.me applies the delay in your review-request settings
  • While Mark reviewers as Active Subscriber is on, Appfox adds that tag to the Judge.me reviewer when the customer has an active subscription, and removes it when they do not
A problem talking to Judge.me does not stop billing or subscription webhooks. The Integrations page shows the error, and a renewal that failed to send can be retried. A request that already went out is not sent again.

How to connect

You can connect with a private API token. If Connect with Judge.me is shown, you can use that instead and approve access in Judge.me.
1

Copy your Judge.me private API token

In Judge.me, open Settings → Integrations and click View API tokens. Copy the private token. The public token is only for showing widgets, and it will not connect Appfox.
2

Open Integrations in Appfox

In Appfox, click Settings (or Merchant dashboard), then click Integrations.
3

Connect Judge.me

Find the Judge.me card and click Connect.
4

Paste the token and choose when to ask

Paste the private token. Leave Send review requests on, then choose 1st successful renewal or 2nd successful renewal. Leave Mark reviewers as Active Subscriber on if you want the tag.
5

Save

Click Save Integration. Appfox checks the token with Judge.me before saving it. A token that Judge.me rejects is not stored.
Each store uses its own token. Appfox stores it for that store and does not show the full token again. To replace it, open Manage, paste a new token, and save. Disconnect stops review requests and reviewer tags.

Avoid two emails for the same order

Judge.me can also send its own automatic review request when an order is fulfilled. If that is turned on, a customer can get Judge.me’s automatic email and the email Appfox schedules for the same renewal. To keep a single email, in Judge.me exclude your subscription products from automatic review requests, or turn automatic requests off and let Appfox choose the renewal. Appfox does not change your Judge.me automatic-request settings.

Active Subscriber in Judge.me

The Active Subscriber tag on the Judge.me reviewer is separate from the Shopify customer tag Appfox already manages.
  • The tag is added when the customer has an active subscription
  • The tag stays while any subscription is still active. Pausing or cancelling one subscription leaves the tag when another is active
  • The tag is removed only when the customer has no active subscription left
  • A failed payment does not remove the tag
In Judge.me, filter reviewers by the Active Subscriber tag. A successful renewal on a subscription that is paused or cancelled does not add the tag back. The tag stays only while some subscription is still active. The review-request email itself cannot carry extra subscription fields. Judge.me’s request API accepts the reviewer, the product id, the product handle, the quantity, and the dates. Appfox leaves the send date blank so Judge.me uses your delay.

What you should see in Judge.me

After the chosen renewal succeeds:
  1. Open Judge.me and go to the review Requests dashboard
  2. Find a manual request for that customer’s email and the subscription’s first product
  3. Judge.me marks it to send using the delay in your review-request settings, counted from the renewal date
  4. Open the reviewer and confirm the Active Subscriber tag when that option is on
The request is not created at checkout, and it is not created on the 3rd renewal or later.

Troubleshooting

The token is rejected

  • Use the private API token from Settings → Integrations → View API tokens
  • The token has to belong to this store. A token from another shop is refused
  • You cannot regenerate a private token yourself in Judge.me. If it was exposed, contact Judge.me support and paste the new one into Appfox

No review request after a renewal

  • Send review requests is on, and the renewal number matches 1st or 2nd
  • The checkout order does not count. Run one successful renewal for “1st”, or two for “2nd”
  • The subscription needs a customer email and at least one product
  • In Judge.me, a skipped request can mean the customer unsubscribed from requests or the product is excluded
  • Changing the setting from 2nd to 1st does not send a request for a renewal that already happened

Two emails arrived

Judge.me’s automatic request is still on for that product. Exclude the subscription product from automatic requests, or turn automatic requests off.

The Active Subscriber tag is missing

  • Mark reviewers as Active Subscriber is on
  • The customer has an active subscription and an email on the contract
  • The tag updates when the subscription is created, paused, resumed, cancelled, expired, or renewed. It can take a moment after the status change
